I have stayed at Dorothy’s Haven of Hope on a few different occasions in time of need in life and have found it to have helped me succeed in life and get on a path of where I am today. I was released from a rather long period of incarceration from the age of 16 to 21 and I had literally nothing and no help of any kind and I was taken in and given a chance when no one would even help me. I didn’t realize at the time, but it would kick start my new future and help me start a new life and break a cycle of incareration and nothingness. Now I know not everyone goes through this or is in the same boat as I was, but this is what I experienced. It also opened my eyes to see that almost everyone is one step away from becoming homeless or struggling to get back up and nothing is guaranteed. I was helped and guided with employement and other needs such as getting insurance and food share for the time until I could get on my feet and stay there. The resources that were available to me were very helpful and very much needed. Dorothy’s Haven of Hope makes a great positive impact in a small area, and I am grateful for it and hope it stays around forever as long as people are in need of help.

Very kind and helpful, go out of their way to help you out any way they can. People in the community need to have a changed opinion of this shelter. There are different reasons and hardships people go through to end up living in a shelter. I went through a series of horrible events that happened to me, ABOSULUTLY NONE OF IT WAS RELATED TO A LEGAL Issue, I ended up in a shelter. Was in a gas station and someone made the comment there goes another one from the shelter, people should not be so quick to judge unless you have been in that situation.

Dorothy’s Haven of Hope has been a blessing, a beacon of light in the dark. Management and staff are both courteous and understanding of individual needs. I recommend Dorothy’s Haven of Hope to anyone facing the burden of homelessness.
